How much money could I make from my existing site?

How long is a piece of string? The amount of money you could potentially make from your site depends on many factors, including:

  • The quality of your content and tools, i.e. are users engaged? Are they returning daily or weekly to a regular blog, for example?
  • The number of unique users visiting your site every day
  • How much you are willing to compromise in order to make money, i.e. would you feature Google Adwords on your site, or would that 'cheapen' the experience of your users? Would carefully selected banner advertising be a better bet?

Rather than rush into site monetisation, why not give the migglemedia team a call on 0845 094 8443 or contact us online for a friendly chat about the most effective ways that you can make money from your website.

How do you choose effective keywords?

At migglemedia, we go through a four step system to pick the best keywords for search engine optimisation.

  • We identify the actual words that customers use in the engines to find our client's products and services
  • We identify relevant keywords with the lowest competition, so that our clients get the advantage in the competition for rankings
  • We identify keywords carrying a high number of hits every day
  • We identify competitors' keywords, and investigate how these can be used to draw potential customers to our client's website.

Will you get me on page one of Google?

Beware of companies that make extravagant promises of a position on the first page of Google or similar claims. There can be no guarantee of a certain ranking - it's all in the hands of the search engines and the efforts other site owners make with their own SEO.

There are a number of dubious methods, such as link farming, that can be employed to try and trick search engines, but we recommend that our customers steer well clear of these as site owners risk having their website blacklisted entirely from the search engines if caught.

Are there any technical considerations when selling advertising?
It's vital that the advertising space on your site conforms to the IAB Universal ad package formats, so that your clients do not have to create specially sized versions of their adverts just for your site. The industry's most common standard sizes are as follows:

300 x 250 IMU - (Medium Rectangle)
180 x 150 IMU - (Rectangle)
728 x 90 IMU - (Leaderboard)
160 x 600 IMU - (Wide Skyscraper)
